Week 3 - September 21/2018

Happy Friday!

Thank you to all the families that came to program night on Wednesday. It was wonderful to meet so many of you.

We have had a busy week!
In language, we have started our "Daily 4" where students are rotating stations each day. We have started up our classroom blog (KidBlog) and have each linked our accounts as authors. We're excited to share the link with you all next week once we have our first posts ready for you to read!

In math, we are working on patterning and exploring growing, shrinking and repeating patterns. We have examined both number patterns, and shape patterns. We can extend patterns using t-charts, drawings, number lines and equations.

Toonies for Terry will be in full swing in the coming week, with our Terry Fox Walk on Friday, September 28th (lets hope for nice weather!).

Have a wonderful weekend!

Great Start to the School Year - Sept. 11/2018

Hi everyone!

We have had a wonderful first week in grade 4. We have spent so much time getting to know each other and learning our new routines and schedules. What a wonderful group of students we have in our class.

In math, we have started working on the patterning unit. We have been searching out number patterns within items we see everyday and describing their rule. Ask your child what number patterns we were able to find in a calendar!

A few reminders...

If you have not already done so, please return the Informed Consent form to us as soon as possible (it was sent home on the first day of school).

Our Program Night will be on Wednesday, September 19th/2018 from 6:30-8 pm. Please meet in the school gym for a short presentation. Following this, you are welcome to walk through the school and come see our classroom. I'm looking forward to meeting many of you!

Our school will be participating in the Terry Fox Walk again this year. The run is on Friday, September 28th/2018 at 2:30 pm. Information on fundraising and the walk  will be sent home this Friday. The class that raises the most money in each division will win a class pizza party!

This Friday, the grade 4 students will be heading to the Richmond Fair on a field trip! Forms were sent home today (Tuesday, Sept 11) and need to be returned ASAP so your child can attend!

The school sent out an e-mail regarding school pizza lunches. Please check your school messenger for information on how to sign up.

Thank you for a great first week!

Welcome to MRT Grade 4!

Happy September! It's hard to believe we are ready to begin another school year.

Welcome to our class blog! Here you will find updates (typically weekly) about our class. It will range from week to week, but it is made with the purpose of keeping you informed on what we are up to in the classroom. It will also include any school reminders, and copies of important communication notes.

Mrs. O'Connor will be running the class blog until early November when Mrs. Gill will return from her maternity leave and take it over. The blog address will stay consistent all year.

Our class introduction newsletter will go home on the first day of school, or you can view it here.

Looking forward to a great school year!

- Mrs. O'Connor
